- The Washington GymDawgs announced the addition of two new gymnasts for the 2020 season, signing Isa Weiss and Allie Smith. Weiss comes to the GymDawgs from Alaska, while Smith is transferring in from Eastern Michigan for her senior year at Washington.
Weiss has excelled throughout her young career, routinely demonstrating her impressive skills on vault. Just this year, Weiss had the highest vault score at the Nadia Comaneci Invitational. That followed up a year that saw her win the event title on vault and bars at the Alaska State Meet as well as the all-around and vault titles at the 2018 Las Vegas Invitational.
was excited to add another elite athlete, saying that "we couldn't be more excited to have her energy on our team this fall. She will be an impressive addition to our vault lineup as one of our few 10.0 start values. She is an impressive, mature, ambitious young woman whose passion for gymnastics and UW is contagious."

Smith comes to Washington after three strong years at Eastern Michigan. This last year, Smith was named to the MAC All-Tournament Team after finishing second in the conference on vault and qualified for NCAA Regionals. In each of the last two years, Smith has been honored for her excellence in the classroom with back-to-back MAC All-Academic awards as well.
"It takes a special athlete to transfer late in their college career seeking more," said Ray-Statz about Smith's addition. "We are thrilled to have Allie joining our team all the way from Michigan and making our vault and floor lineups even stronger. She comes with experience, leadership, and a strong desire to have her best season yet. She fits wonderfully into our culture."
